They are like most all of my other shoes bought from altra. They are comfortable and help me while being on my feet all day at work, working in the medical field. The only shoes I buy for walking/runningI have purchased other shoes, but many have more pointed toes. I was looking for a good walking shoe with more room for my toes. The ALTRA Women's AL0A4VRC Provision 5 Road Running Shoe has provided me with fine relief in my toes and more comfort while walking. I do recommend them.As an avid runner, I cautioned getting these because I had been running in neutral kinvara 12s (4mm drop) for the past year battling some hip pain. But when my physical therapist said I slightly overpronate and should consider trying out stability shoes, I went for it. Unfortunately it was too much change for me to adjust to and I started having knee pain. Besides that, my feet were hurting just two miles into my runs. Three strikes and you’re out so when my knee pain continued after three runs, I decided to give up and return them. Altra has a great policy on returns. And I used to love their Viho until they discontinued it. So this just wasn’t the shoe for me. Onto the shoe search yet again!WalkingGood looking, really soft, lower heel, could be more stable.I just bought a pair of Hokas about 2 weeks before I got these. My Hokas are sitting in the boot tray. No comparison for comfort. I pick these every time. I do have custom orthotics in these as well (my bf is an orthotist). I had a pair previously that fit comfortably with the orthotics, these were on the cusp of being too snug.I have worn Altra's for nearly 6 years, many styles, and colors. This is the first pair I have ever worn or purchased that is NARROW in the toe box! I currently own 6 other pairs all size 7 or 7.5, and none of those or others I have had in the past have ever felt tight in the toe box! This leads me to believe that these are either not true Altras, or a rare production flaw has occurred with this pair. Either way, I am disappointed. I wear Altras for regular running, distance running, and comfortable walking shoes. These do not fit like an Altra.I have a wide toe bed and struggle with running shoes. These are amazing and very cute.I have bought both Topos and Altras as they are the only ones wide enough to accommodate both my feet AND my orthotics. I have a fallen arch on my left foot, made worse by a bad break of lower leg bones at the ankle in 2019. Neither Topos nor Altras are inexpensive, but I could not hike consecutive days because the shoes rubbed my left toe raw. I researched Altra for an alternative for overpronators and Provision 5 seemed as if it might help. They are definitely the best Altras for that purpose that I have found and Amazon sold them (my regular store has Altras but not this model). They don't completely correct (nothing probably ever will) but they are the best that I have had so far for my problem. Schade!
